When your child isn’t satisfied with their school art class it can be hard to find an art studio that offers high-quality classes. Fortunately, you don’t have to look any further! Noor Studio and Gallery’s kids' art classes strive to offer lessons with substance instead of just another form of day care. Read below to learn how!
Small Group Approach
We believe high-quality art classes start with the size of the class itself. At Noor our 1-hour long classes have a maximum capacity of 10 students to ensure quality. Here are some benefits of small classes:
Personal Guidance
- One of the most important things needed for a child’s skills to grow is feedback. The teacher only has so much time to answer questions so, a small group guarantees they are able to give personal guidance to everyone.
Easier to Build Friendships
- For a lot of kids, being in a large class may cause some anxiety, resulting in them keeping to themselves and not socializing. With a more intimate group it is easier to interact with others without taking time away from the lesson.
Easier to Focus
- With large groups, the room can get loud very easily, causing distractions and possibly frustration in the students that want to focus.
Various Mediums and Techniques
Exploring diverse realms of the creative process helps form a well-rounded artist. Here are examples of how we help create well-rounded artists:
Wet Media
- So far this year, our students have been working with wet media such as acrylic paint, watercolor, and ink. Each medium offers different opportunities to develop hand-eye coordination and dexterity.
Artistic Elements and Principles
- We teach the classic art elements and principles as building blocks that will be used in every single piece of art a student will ever make whether it is intentional or not. Examples of these are line, value, shape, color, etc.
Structured Self-Expression
- While it can be fun to just throw paint onto a canvas (and can produce beautiful artworks) we believe it is important for art to also be thoughtful. Thinking about what they’ve learned in class as they compose their artworks results in meaningful art they can genuinely be proud of.
Appropriate for All Skill Levels
Combining small groups with the teaching of various mediums and techniques makes our classes suitable for all skill levels. Here’s how:
Base Lesson as a Starting Point
- Since we teach the classic elements and principles, each lesson has a core idea that can be expanded on as much or as little as the student wants.
Creative Encouragement for the Advanced
- If there are students that have already been introduced to that day’s element, our teachers work to provide them with additional inspiration to make their artwork more detailed.
Collaborative Learning
- Having different skill levels in the same class also provides an opportunity for students to learn from each other and share ideas.
